Frank Monacelli: Entrepreneur by Day, Baseball Dad by Night

Frank MonacelliWhen not attending to the needs of his clients, Frank Monacelli, Vice President of Nino Properties, spends his downtime coaching his youngest son’s baseball team, the American League All Stars, a division of 9U West University Little League (WULL).

The WULL is one of the largest little leagues in the country with approximately 1,300 players— one of West University’s greatest treasures.

Baseball Update for Diego Monacelli

DSC_0459This summer, Frank kept himself busy as he led his son’s team to 6 victories, with an overall record of .500, granting them the opportunity to advance to the semifinals.

At the semifinals, Frank’s team lost their first game to the WULL National League Team, causing them to go to the underdog’s bracket.  Despite this, the American League All Stars managed to stay in the hunt and head to the Championship after winning seven games in a row.

The Championship Game for WULL 9Us had not happened in years and was enthusiastically followed by many within the West University community.  In the end, the team lost to Bellaire, which led them to win the Sectionals.

Diego then went on to play with some of the same WULL All Star players for the National Baseball Gulf Coast Ultimate World Series in Pensacola. The team won all games, granting them the championship for the 9U division.

“It was fun to be part of the action, both as a coach and as a father— the great memories are what makes all the hard work worthwhile, “said Frank.

Here are some photos of a few highlights of the two tournaments.  Enjoy.
